Nepse slips 7.79 points as losses extend to third day

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its losing streak to a third consecutive trading session on Wednesday, shedding 7.79 points to close at 2,688.88. The index has lost 45.72 points over the past three sessions.

Although the benchmark index traded mostly in negative territory, it moved into the green and reached an intraday high of 2,706.86 points. However, it soon fell into the red and ultimately closed the session 0.28% lower.

As many as 186 stocks declined during the session, while 78 advanced and 11 remained unchanged. Total turnover also fell to Rs 4.02 billion with 9.77 million units traded through 48,072 transactions.

Among individual stocks, Everest Colors Ltd continued its winning run with the highest gain of 14.99%. Snow Rivers Ltd and Nabil Balanced Fund-3 followed with gains of 4.9% and 3.91%, respectively. On the other hand, Garma Samriddhi Yojana suffered the biggest loss of 6.6%. Next were Civil Bank Debenture 2088 and Matribhumi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha with losses of 6.01% and 4.54%, respectively.

Except for the Mutual Fund and Others sub-indices, which posted nominal gains, all trading groups ended the session lower on Wednesday. The Microfinance sub-index posted the biggest loss of 0.6%. Next were the Finance and Non-Life Insurance sub-indices with losses of 0.57%, each.
