Nepse slips 26.29 points; turnover declines to Rs 3.55 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its losses for a second straight session on Monday. The benchmark index shed 26.29 points to close the week’s first trading day at 2,627.11 points.

The index moved into negative territory right after trading began and trended downward for much of the session. Although the index pared some losses after hitting an intraday low of 2,624.25 points, it still ended the session 0.99% lower.

Losses dominated the session as unit prices of 239 stocks declined. Similarly, 34 advanced and four remained unchanged. Total turnover fell to Rs 3.55 billion, compared to Rs 4.41 billion in the previous session, with 7.54 million units traded through 46,246 transactions.

Among individual stocks, Snow Rivers Ltd and Sanigad Hydropower Ltd logged the biggest gains of 14.99% each. Next were Kalanga Hydropower Ltd and Corporate Development Bank Ltd with gains of 14.98% and 11.55%, respectively. On the other hand, Three Star Hydropower Ltd logged the largest loss of 13.79%. Nepal Finance Ltd and Khanikhola Hydropower Company Ltd followed with losses of 11.64% and 9.72%, respectively.

In terms of turnover, 8.5% Nepal Investment Bank Debenture 2084 posted the highest transactions of Rs 539.45 million. Next were Central Finance Company Ltd and NRN Infrastructure & Development with turnovers of Rs 155.72 million and Rs 128.43 million, respectively.

All 13 trading groups ended the session in the red. The Trading sub-index posted the largest loss of 3.15%. Next were the Finance and Manufacturing & Processing sub-indices with losses of 1.25% and 1.17%, respectively.
