Nepse slips 18.10 points; turnover improves to Rs 5.77 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its losses for a second consecutive session on Tuesday, slipping 18.10 points to close trading at 2,807.12 points.

The market opened in negative territory and remained under pressure throughout the trading day. It briefly dipped below the key psychological support level of 2,800 points, hitting an intraday low of 2,797.84, before late buying helped the index recover marginally above that threshold by the close.

Trading activity improved slightly, with Rs 5.77 billion worth of shares traded, up from Rs 5.43 billion in the previous session. A total of 13.01 million units were traded during the session through 95,800 transactions.

Unit prices of 215 scrips declined during the session, while 48 advanced and six remained unchanged. Three scrips hit the 15% positive circuit.

Solu Hydropower Ltd recorded the highest turnover of the session with shares worth Rs 370.73 million traded. Reliance Spinning Mills Ltd and National Hydropower Company Ltd were next with turnovers of Rs 301.9 million and Rs 234.15 million, respectively.

Among sectoral indices, 12 posted losses and one ended the session in the green. Hotels & Tourism sub-index posted a gain of 1.16%. The Others sub-index logged the biggest loss of 1.27%. Next were Hydropower and Finance sub-indices with losses of 1.23% and 1.09%, respectively.
