Nepse sheds 11.37 points; turnover improves to Rs 5.63 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its losing run for a second consecutive session on Thursday, declining by 11.37 points, or 0.41%, to close trading at 2,755.41 points.

The Nepse index had gone down by 13.46 points on Thursday.

Despite some initial gains, the benchmark index remained in negative territory throughout most of the session. A total of 185 scrips posted losses, while 74 advanced and 10 remained unchanged on Friday. Total turnover slightly improved to Rs 5.63 billion, with more than 12.73 million units traded through 55,467 transactions.

Among individual stocks, Kalinchowk Hydropower Ltd posted the biggest gain, hitting 15% positive circuit, on Friday. On the other hand, 8% SBL Debenture 2084 suffered the biggest loss of 4.92%. Likewise, Ankhukhola Jalvidyut Company topped the turnover chart with securities worth Rs 556.9 million traded on the bourse. City Hotels Ltd and 1.25% NBBL Debenture 2085 followed with total transactions worth Rs 196 million and Rs 188.62 million, respectively.

Only four trading groups ended the session in the green, while the remaining nine posted losses. The Finance sub-index posted the biggest gain of 2.77%. On the other hand, Manufacturing & Processing recorded the biggest loss of 0.79%.
