Nepse snaps two-day gaining streak, closes 13.46 points lower

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) snapped its two-day gaining streak, losing 13.46 points to 2,766.78 points, on Wednesday, as selling pressure dominated the market.

Although the market had recovered and hit an intra-day high of 2,787.46 points, after dipping early, it lost momentum after the house’s mark and eventually ended the session 0.48% lower.

Unit prices of 197 scrips declined during the session, while 64 advanced and eight remained unchanged. Total turnover fell to Rs 4.7 billion with 10.61 million units traded through 51,601 transactions.

Among individual stocks, Kalinchowk Hydropower logged the highest gain, hitting a 15% positive circuit. On the other hand, Vijay Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha recorded the biggest loss of 4.69%. Likewise, EBL Debenture 86 of Everest Bank Ltd logged the highest turnover of Rs 340.15 million. Next were Ankhukhola Jalvidyut Company Ltd and Central Finance Company Ltd with total transactions of Rs 320.56 million and Rs 185.26 million, respectively.

Except for the Mutual Fund sub-index, which posted a nominal gain of 0.32%, all trading groups ended the session. The trading sub-index posted the biggest loss of 1.71%. Next were Non-life Insurance and Hotels & Tourism sub-indices with losses of 1.21% and 1.07%, respectively.
