KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended gains for a second straight session on Friday, closing 27.49 points higher at 2,745.65 points.
The index moved into positive territory and stayed there throughout the session to eventually end the session 1.01% higher compared to the previous session. Share prices moved mostly upward. Unit prices of 235 scrips advanced, while 26 declined and eight remained unchanged.
Among individual stocks, Trishuli Jalvidyut Company Ltd posted the highest growth of 10% on Friday, while Swabalamban Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha logged the biggest loss of 6.54%. Hotel Forest Inn Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 138.69 million worth of shares traded. Next were Reliance Spinning Mills Ltd and Solu Hydropower Ltd with total transactions of Rs 136.46 million and Rs 120.31 million, respectively.
Total turnover improved to Rs 3.28 million. A total of 7.47 million units were traded on Friday through 53,014 transactions.
Twelve trading groups ended the session in the green, while one, the Trading sub-index, remained unchanged. The Finance sub-index posted the biggest gain of 1.87%. Next were Hydropower and Non-life Insurance sub-indices with gains of 1.71% and 1.52%, respectively.
