KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index snapped a two-day losing streak on Tuesday, posting a gain of 24.57 points to close trading at 2,651.68 points.
Positive sentiment prevailed in the market from early trading on Tuesday. Although the index briefly moved into negative territory after about an hour, it rebounded and remained in positive territory throughout the session. At the close, the Nepse index was 0.93% higher compared to the previous session.
Investor sentiment was largely positive as unit prices of 210 stocks advanced during the session, while 57 declined and 10 remained unchanged. Total turnover improved to Rs 4.4 billion with 9.51 million units traded through 72,022 transactions.
Among individual stocks, Kalanga Hydro Ltd logged the highest gain of 14.99%. RBB Focus 40 and Sanigad Hydro Ltd followed with gains of 13.85% and 10.57%. On the other hand, Atmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha topped the table of losing stocks with a loss of 13.78%. Next were 10% Citizen Bank Debenture 2090 and Snow Rivers Ltd with losses of 7.99% and 5.13%, respectively. 10% KBL Debenture 2090 topped the turnover chart with total transactions of Rs 207.58 million. 10.35% ADBL Debenture 2083 and Global IME Bank Ltd were next with total turnovers of Rs 179.27 million and Rs 168.65 million, respectively.
All trading groups ended the session in the green. The biggest gain came from the Trading sub-index, which went up by 1.89%. Next were the Banking and Development Bank sub-indices with gains of 1.52% and 1.13%, respectively.
