Nepse falls for fourth straight session

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index extended its losing run for a fourth consecutive session on Tuesday, slipping marginally by 1.54 points to close at 2,733.59.The

With this, the Nepse index has shed 46.66 points over the past four sessions.

The benchmark index remained under pressure for most of the trading session and went close to breaching the psychological support level of 2,700 points. However, after hitting an intraday low of 2,702.08 points, the index staged a late recovery. Although Nepse pared some losses, the rebound was not strong enough to push the market into positive territory.

Unit prices of 105 scrips advanced during the session, while 151 declined and 15 remained unchanged. Despite Nepse’s decline, total turnover improved to Rs 6.44 billion through 63,732 transactions.

Among individual stocks, newly-listed Sopan Pharmaceuticals Ltd and Kalinchowk Hydropower Ltd hit the 15% positive circuit. On the other hand, Crest Micro-life Finance registered the biggest loss of 9.16%.

In terms of turnover, the Agriculture Bond (8 Year) topped the chart with transactions worth Rs 570 million. Next were Central Finance Company Ltd and 10.25% NBBL Debenture 2085 with total turnovers of Rs 359.04 million and Rs 312.90 million, respectively.

Four trading groups posted gains on Tuesday, while the remaining nine ended the session in the red. The Others sub-index posted the biggest gain of 0.29%. On the other hand, the Finance sub-index posted the biggest loss of 1.01%.
