Nepse extends losses for third straight session

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its losing streak to a third consecutive session on Monday, shedding 20.27 points, or 0.73%, to close trading at 2,735.14.

The index dropped 11.37 points on Friday and 13.46% on Thursday.

The benchmark index moved into the green initially but remained under pressure throughout the session. Although the index recovered some losses toward the close, it remained firmly in negative territory. Turnover also fell to Rs 4.08 billion with 9.23 million units traded through 56,845 transactions.

Among individual stocks, Kalinchowk Hydropower Ltd continued its gaining streak, logging the biggest gain of 14.99%. On the other hand, Unnati Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha recorded the largest loss at 6.01%.

Likewise, Central Finance Company Ltd topped the turnover chart with shares worth Rs 204.62 million traded. Next were 8.5% Laxmi Bank Debenture and Ankhukhola Jalvidyut Company Ltd with total transactions of Rs 171.72 million and Rs 138.05 million, respectively.

Except for the Finance, which gained 0.26%, all trading groups ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the Trading sub-index, which fell by 1.77%. Next were Others and Development Bank sub-indices, which ended the session 1.5% and 1.03% lower, respectively.
