KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index ended marginally lower on Friday, shedding 4.05 points to close at 2,650.09 on the last trading day of the week.
Although the index posted gains initially, it soon moved into the red as selling pressure increased. Unit prices of 183 declined during the session, while 86 advanced and seven remained unchanged. Total turnover fell to Rs 3.77 billion, with 10.31 million units traded through 46,912 transactions.
Among individual stocks, Atmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha posted the biggest gain of 8.6%. Next were Civil Bank Debenture 2088 and HLI Large Cap Fund with gains of 6.96% and 5.18%, respectively. In contrast, Upper Lohorekhola Hydropower Company logged the largest loss of 6.93%. 10.5% Everest Bank Ltd Debenture 2085 and Ankhukhola Jalavidyut Company were next with losses of 4.8% and 3.18%, respectively.
Similarly, Solu Hyropower Ltd posted the biggest turnover of Rs 392.55 million. Next were Ridi Power Company and Sanima Bank Ltd with turnovers of Rs 230.2 million and Rs 170.88 million, respectively.
Four trading groups posted gains, while the remaining nine ended the session in the red. The Mutual Fund sub-index posted the biggest gain of 0.51%, while the Finance sub-index logged the biggest loss of 0.7%.
