KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index declined by 25.81 points on Wednesday to close trading at 2,744.45 points.
After posting a nominal gain during early trading, the benchmark index fell and remained in the negative territory for the remainder of the session. Unit prices of 235 stocks fell during the session, while 30 advanced and four remained unchanged.
Total turnover also dropped to Rs 4.99 billion, with 12.13 million shares traded through 104,005 transactions.
Reliance Spinning Mills Ltd topped the transactions chart with Rs 241.96 million worth of shares traded. Palpa Cement Industries Ltd and Corporate Development Bank were next with turnovers of Rs 202.28 million and Rs 182.45 million, respectively.
Corporate Development Bank was the biggest gainer of the session as the Class ‘B’ bank saw its share price go up by 13.81% to Rs 2,678. Similarly, Nepal Life Sambriddhi Yojana mutual fund scheme of Nepal and 12% ICFC Finance Debenture also saw their unit prices go up by 3.87% and 3%, respectively.
However, 10% KBL Debenture of Kumari Bank Ltd logged the biggest loss of 11.46%. Next were Shikhar Power Development Company and Palpa Cement Industry Ltd with losses of 9.92% and7.79%, respectively.
Except for the Development Bank sub-index, which posted a nominal gain of 0.14%, all sectoral indices ended the session in the red. Manufacturing & Process sub-index posted the biggest loss of 2.24%. Next were Hotels & Tourism and Hydropower sub-indices with losses of 1.64% and 1.45%, respectively.
