NC, Maoist will form government in Koshi Province soon, says NC leader Karki

ITAHARI: Nepali Congress (NC) Central Committee Member Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said on Monday that the Koshi Province Government would fall within two months.

Addressing an event organized to lay the foundation stone for a road project in Inaruwa, Karki hinted that a new leader could be installed in the province by June. “Our friends in the province are preparing to form a new government. We, at the center, are also discussing the matter. We will take the discussions to a conclusion soon,” Karki, who is also a former communication minister, said.

Although he didn’t specify who would lead the next government, Karki stated that the NC-Maoist coalition would form it.

Hikmat Bahadur Karki of CPN-UML is leading the coalition government of UML, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, and Janata Samajbadi party in Koshi Province.

Karki, however, has been maintaining that his government will run for the full term. “There are rumors of the formation of a new coalition of UML and NC at the center,” he said.

The 23-kilometer road connects Devangunj Rural Municipality, which borders India, to Inaruwa. The project is expected to cost Rs. 328.3 million and be completed within three years.
