NAC forms panel to study delay in aircraft repair

KATHMANDU: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has formed a committee to investigate the delay in the engine repair of its single-aisle Airbus A320 aircraft with the call sign 9N-AKX.

A meeting of the board of directors of NAC formed the five-member panel under the leadership of Captain Sudhir Shamsher Rai.

Rai is also a board director of the national flag carrier.

The panel has been instructed to study and investigate why the aircraft’s engine sent to Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) for maintenance and repair was not returned on time, and why the leased engine was also not provided on time. It has been given 15 days to submit a report with appropriate opinions and recommendations.

It took nearly five months for engine repair of the aircraft in Isreal. The aircraft has now resumed regular flights.
