Madhesh Chief Minister Sonal sworn in

KATHMANDU: Madhesh Province Chief Minister Jitendra Sonal has taken the oath of office and secrecy.

Province Chief Sumitra Subedi Bhandari administered the oath to the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) Nepal leader amid a ceremony in Janakpurdham on Thursday.

Bhandari appointed Sonal as the Chief Minister on Wednesday. He has the support of six political parties, including the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal, the Janamat Party, and the CPN (Maoist Center).

He took the oath in the Bhojpuri language.

Province Chief Bhandai also administered the oath of office and secrecy to new ministers Mahesh Prasad Yadav of the Janamat Party and Kanish Patel of the CPN (Unified Socialist) of Sonal’s government.

The two ministers, however, have not been given a portfolio yet.
