Library building brought down to open flag park in Pokhara

POKHARA: A flag park has been inaugurated in Mahendrapul, Pokhara, on Democracy Day.

Pokhara Mayor Dhanraj Achary and Lions Club International Director Bal Krishna Burlakot jointly inaugurated the park, built with an investment of Rs 7 million contributed by five districts of Lions Club International.

The park has been built by demolishing the building of Pokhara Public Library and Pokhara Art Gallery. Over 12,000 books from the library have been relocated to the Nayabazaar-based Chhetri Society Building. The metropolitan city plans to construct a new library building at Prithvi Chowk.

The park features flags of 193 nations affiliated with the United Nations, as well as the flag of Lions Club.

Lions Club International has handed over the park to the Pokhara Metropolitan City.

The flag park will include facilities such as resthouses, tea and snack shops, resting places, a newspaper stall, and digital displays.
