New models take center stage at Nepal Mobility Expo [In Pictures]

KATHMANDU: The NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026 officially kicked off at Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu, on Tuesday.

Organized by the Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA), the six-day event has brought together over 55 vehicle brands across four-wheelers, two-wheelers, and commercial vehicles.

According to the organizers, as many as 40 new models will be launched during the expo

Here is a look at some new passenger car models unveiled on the opening day of the expo:

Denza B5

Cimex Inc., the authorized distributor for BYD in Nepal, launched the Denza B5 plug-in hybrid SUV on Tuesday. Denza is a premium sub-brand of BYD. Priced at Rs 29.7 million, the luxury SUV combines sophisticated engineering with high-end comfort. It is available in two variants: the Dynamic, measuring 4,888 mm in length with 18-inch wheels, and the Premium, measuring 4,921 mm with 20-inch alloy wheels. The luxury PHEV targets high-end buyers seeking sustainable performance without compromising on road presence, premium aesthetics, or long-distance versatility.

Wuling Darion EV

Paramount Motors, the official distributor of Wuling in Nepal, has unveiled the 7-seater Wuling Darion EV. Positioned as a family-friendly, premium electric MPV, the car is priced at Rs 5.599 million, with an introductory NAIMA offer discount of Rs 200,000. Built for long-distance travel, the Darion features a 69.2 kWh lithium battery delivering an impressive range of up to 540 km on a single charge. Cabin highlights in the car include electric sliding doors on both sides, ventilated captain seats, a 12.8-inch touchscreen, 360-degree cameras, wireless charging and a panoramic sunroof. Standard safety features in the MPV include six airbags, ABS, EBD, ESC, and tire pressure monitoring system, among others.

Tata Punch EV Facelift

Sipradi Trading has introduced the upgraded Tata Punch EV Facelift at the expo. The company has launched three variants of the compact SUV priced between Rs 3.399 million for the base model and Rs 3.799 million for the top variant. According to the company, the updated model sees a price reduction of up to Rs 400,000 following post-budget revisions. The facelifted crossover offers enhanced 30 kWh and 40 kWh battery options and supports up to 65 kW DC fast charging. The car can charge from 20% to 80% in just 26 minutes. Design updates feature 16-inch aero-optimized alloy wheels and connected LED taillights.

BAIC BJ30e
Laxmi Motor Hub has launched the BAIC BJ30e hybrid SUV in Nepal at an introductory price of Rs 11.996  million. Designed as a pure off-road machine, the BJ30e utilizes BAIC’s Magic Core hybrid system, coupling a 1.5-liter turbo engine with electric driving dynamics. The car offers a driving range of up to 1,000 km on a single 51-liter petrol tank. Off-road capability is supported by a robust 215 mm ground clearance, a 25-degree approach angle and a 30-degree departure angle. According to the company, drivers benefit from real-time off-road telemetry displayed directly on the instrument cluster—including pitch, roll, altitude, barometric pressure, compass and a specialized wading mode that monitors water levels when traversing deep streams.

Nissan Tekton

Pioneer Motocorp, the authorized distributor for Nissan in Nepal, debuted the all-new Nissan Tekton SUV at the expo. It has opened bookings for the car at a starting price of Rs 5.129 million for the base variant and Rs 8.360  million for the top variant. Heavily inspired by the flagship Patrol SUV, the Tekton boasts a muscular hood, imposing road presence, connected LED headlights with DRLs, and connected rear LED lights. The modern cabin includes a three-tone dashboard, digital instrument display, widescreen infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats and a wireless phone charger.

iCaur V27

SPG Automobiles introduced the rugged iCaur V27 at the expo. The V27 marks the arrival of the first Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) in the Nepali market. Combining a 1.5-liter turbo petrol range extender with a 34.3 kWh LFP battery, the company claims that the V27 provides a pure electric driving range of 210 km and a total combined range of roughly 1,200 km. The all-wheel-drive variant generates 336 kW of power and 505 Nm of torque and can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. The cabin is fitted with a 15.4-inch 2.5K display powered by the Snapdragon 8295P chipset, Horizon Journey 6P-based Level 2 ADAS with LiDAR, 23 speakers and seven airbags.

All-New Hyundai Venue

Laxmi Intercontinental has launched the new-generation Hyundai Venue compact SUV at the expo, with prices starting at Rs 4.896 million and reaching Rs 6.796 million for the sporty N Line variant across four trims. Assembled locally in Nepal, the updated Venue introduces Level-2 ADAS features to the popular lineup for the first time. Depending on the trim, the vehicle comes equipped with a 360-degree camera system, selectable drive and traction modes, rear window sunshades, front parking sensors, reclining rear seats, an electric parking brake with auto-hold and updated styling.

Chery Q

Pioneer Moto Corp has unveiled the Chery Q premium electric hatchback at the expo. Featuring a crossover design, the car is priced at Rs 3.449 million for the Comfort variant and Rs 3.599 million for the Premium variant. However, the company is offering the car at the special expo prices of Rs 3.099 million and Rs 3.299 million, respectively. Equipped with a 41.2 kWh battery, the rear-wheel-drive Chery Q delivers a claimed range of up to 400 km. It supports 85 kW DC fast charging and offers V2L functionality for powering external devices. The car comes with a 540-degree camera system, a 15.6-inch touchscreen and over 20 ADAS features.

Wuling Eksion
Paramount Motors has introduced the Eksion EV, a full-sized 7-seater electric SUV, at the expo. Priced at Rs 5.799 million—with a promotional expo price of Rs 5.599 million—the Eksion EV offers a spacious interior built on a 2,810 mm wheelbase. The car is powered by a 150 kW electric motor generating 310 Nm of torque, paired with a 69.2 kWh battery pack. Designed to accommodate large families, the 7-seater cabin provides practical passenger comfort alongside strong EV performance suited for both urban commuting and highway travel.

MG Majestor

GIO Automobiles has launched the premium MG Majester full-size SUV at the expo. The car, which comes with a price tag of Rs 25 million, is based on the Maxus D90 platform. The robust ladder-frame SUV made headlines after pulling a 406.4-ton train to earn a Guinness World Record. Powering the Majestor is a 2.0-liter twin-turbocharged diesel engine producing 215.5 PS and 478.5 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission in both rear-wheel and four-wheel-drive configurations. Measuring over 5 meters in length, it features an aggressive glossy-black front grille, vertical LED headlights, 19-inch dual-tone wheels, and dual exhaust pipes, catering to luxury buyers seeking maximum size and capability.

Toyota RAV4 Hybrid (6th Gen)
United Traders Syndicate, the authorized distributor of Toyota in Nepal, launched the 6th-generation Toyota RAV4 Hybrid at the expo. The car is available for Rs 21.3 million. As one of the world’s best-selling compact SUVs—with over 15.5 million units sold globally—the latest RAV4 features a self-charging hybrid system, featuring a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor. It generates a combined output of 240 PS (an 18 PS increase over the previous model). Equipped with a 1.5 kWh battery, the self-charging powertrain eliminates the need for external plug-in charging.

Mahindra XEV 9S

Agni Incorporated launched the Mahindra XEV 9S electric SUV at the expo at a starting price of Rs 6 million. The car emphasizes passenger headroom and overall cabin space. Built on a 2,762 mm wheelbase with 18-inch alloy wheels, it features an illuminated front LED light bar, closed-off grille, and a rugged bumper setup. The car’s high-tech cabin boasts a triple-screen dashboard layout, a 16-speaker Harman audio system with Dolby Atmos, a head-up display, Level 2.0 ADAS, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and driver memory seating, available in both 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery configurations.
