KMC Mayor Balen Shah says he is being pressurized to resign

KATHMANDU: Balen Shah, the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, has stated that he is facing pressure to resign from his position.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, Shah wrote, “They are trying to make me resign. This country will never improve.”

However, he did not disclose who was pressuring him to step down.

Shah was elected as the Mayor of KMC in the local body election held in March last year as an independent candidate. Some of his actions, such as removing hawkers from the streets, demolishing illegal structures, and removing hoarding boards, have faced criticism from some sections of society.
