Shah will chair the province assembly sessions until Speaker and Deputy Speaker are elected.
The Karnali Province Assembly has a total of 40 members – 24 elected under the first past the post (FPTP) system and 16 elected under the proportional representation (PR) system.
Nepali Congress is the largest party in the province assembly with 14 members. However, the seven-party alliance formed at the center on Sunday is expected to stake a claim to government formation as it has the required majority to form the government.
