SURKHET: The Karnali Province Government has unveiled plans to launch a campaign aimed at creating 10,000 jobs.
The Policies and Programs for the Fiscal Year 2023/24, presented in the Karnali Province Assembly by Province Chief Tilak Pariyar, highlights economic prosperity, social justice, poverty alleviation, job creation, and production as the main priorities. The policy document outlines the implementation of flagship programs such as the Chief Minister Employment Program, Dalit Employment Program, and Women Income Generation Program in the upcoming fiscal year, albeit with some revisions.
The province government has said that it will conduct a feasibility study for the establishment of an organic fertilizer plant within the province.
In addition, the Karnali Province Government has revived its previous plan to expand Surkhet Airport. The previous government under Jeevan Bahadur Shahi had proposed constructing a new airport in Bheriganga. However, due to concerns raised by the private sector about the prolonged timeline for a new airport’s completion, the decision was made to expand the existing Surkhet Airport. The policy document states that the provincial government will forge cooperation with the federal government for the airport’s expansion.
Furthermore, the provincial government has announced plans to construct an overhead bridge at Mangalgadhi Chowk in the provincial capital, Birendranagar. The policy document also includes programs such as the installation of traffic lights and the construction of footbridges as needed throughout the province.
The Karnali Province Government aims to promote job creation, infrastructure development, and improved transportation facilities as part of its broader agenda for economic growth and social progress.
