Govt to send medical team to quake-hit Turkey

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to send a medical team with relief materials for people displaced by the Turkey earthquakes.

A meeting of the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management chaired by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal held on Wednesday took the decision to this end.

At the meeting, high-ranked government officials held discussions on the support that Nepal can provide to quake-hit Turkey.

“The government of Turkey had helped Nepal in difficult times. We must help Turkey which is in a similar situation now,” Dahal said, adding: “Turkey is our good friend. We should send our team.”

The meeting decided to send a medical team with the necessary equipment and medicines and food stuff.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Bishnu Poudel, Chief Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi and Chief of Army Staff Prabhu Ram Sharma, among others, were present in the meeting.
