
KATHMANDU: The Global Money Week 2025 celebrations kicked off in Kathmandu on Monday with the theme ‘Think Before You Follow, Wise Money Tomorrow’.
Organized by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) in collaboration with the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA), the Securities Board of Nepal (Sebon), and the Department of Cooperatives (DoC), the week-long event aims to promote financial literacy among youth and students.
Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari inaugurated the event in the presence of around 600 students from grades 7 to 9 from various schools in Kathmandu. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized the importance of financial literacy and urged individuals to choose financial products wisely based on their needs. Highlighting the growing challenges of digital financial transactions, he called for caution while using digital platforms.
The event featured panel discussions with officials from NRB, Sebon, NIA, DoC, and the Nepal Bankers Association.
Students participated in interactive sessions and a financial literacy quiz competition, according to a statement issued by the central bank.
Nationwide awareness programs targeting youth, focusing on banking, insurance, capital markets and cooperative services will be organized over the next week.
