KATHMANDU: Minister for Finance Swarnim Wagle is leaving for India for a three-day visit at the invitation of the Government of India on Thursday.
The cabinet meeting held on Wednesday approved his visit.
Wagle will leave for New Delhi on Thursday, leading a six-member delegation. Officials from the finance ministry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be part of the delegation.
According to the finance ministry, the main objective of the visit is to enhance cooperation between the two countries on various economic, political and diplomatic issues, including post-disaster reconstruction.
Wagle is scheduled to meet his Indian counterpart, Nirmala Sitharaman, at 5 pm on Thursday.
On Friday, Wagle is scheduled to hold talks with Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. The same day, he will attend a high-level diplomatic dialogue organized by former Indian foreign secretary Shyam Saran as the chief guest.
Similarly, Wagle will also attend a business networking event organized by Javed Ashraf, chairperson of the Trade Promotion Organization of India, on the same day.
On Saturday morning, he will deliver the keynote address at a conference organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) with representatives of leading Indian business houses.
Later that afternoon, Wagle will attend an academic discussion on development economics organized by the Delhi School of Economics as the chief guest.
He is scheduled to return to Nepal on Saturday evening.
