DDC raises milk prices by as much as Rs 16 per liter

KATHMANDU: Dairy Development Corporation (DDC) has increased the price of packaged milk by up to Rs 16 per liter.

According to the state-owned dairy producer, the standard milk (blue packet), will now cost Rs 97 per liter. It is currently available for Rs 86 per liter.

Similarly, cow milk (yellow packet) will now cost Rs 116 per liter, while full cream milk (green packet) will cost Rs 130 per liter. Full cream milk is currently available for Rs 114 per liter. Similarly, the price of tea milk has bene raised to Rs 90 per liter. DDC’s packaged milk is available in 500 ml packets.

The new prices will come into effect from Thursday.

DDC has cited the hike in the price of packaged milk to high procurement costs.

The government a few days ago raised the minimum price of raw milk by Rs 10 per liter to Rs 65 per liter.
