Darchula avalanche: Three bodies recovered

KATHMANDU: Rescue workers have recovered three bodies under the snow debris in Darchula on Wednesday.

According to DSP Ishwari Dutta Bhatta of the Armed Police Force’s Border Police Outpost, Chhangru, three bodies were recovered some two and a half kilometers below the incident site. “Rescue workers have recovered the bodies of two women and one man. Their identity hasn’t been ascertained yet,” Bhatta added.

An avalanche had swept away tents of yarsagumba collectors at Boling highland in Darchula district on Tuesday afternoon. Seven were rescued by the police late Tesday evening, while five had gone out of contact.

“Our team is searching for the other missing people,” Bhatta added.
