KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairperson and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Monday briefed his party about his recent visit to the United States of America to attend the 78th United Nations General Assembly and his official visit to China.

Addressing the meeting of the party office-bearers, Dahal said the participation in the UNGA had significantly enhanced Nepal’s global identity. “Through Nepal’s active participation in the UN mega event, the international community gained a better understanding of Nepal,” he added. “The meetings with the UN Secretary-General and other interactions on the sidelines of the event were of great importance.”

Regarding his visit to the northern neighbor, Dahal said that the bilateral agreements and understandings reached during the visit held long-term significance for Nepal’s development. Dahal said the agreement between the National Planning Commission and China’s National Development and Reform Commission as well as other agreements in the fields of cross-border transmission lines, agriculture, and science and technology were of long-term significance.

Dahal departed for the United Nations headquarters in New York on September 16 and left for China from New York on September 23. He returned home on September 30.
