DHANGADHI: CPN-UML has boycotted an all-party meeting called by District Election Office, Bajura, on Wednesday to forge consensus on vote counting.

The Election Commission earlier on the day instructed concerned district election offices of Bajura and Syangja to begin vote counting of Bajura and Syangja-2 constituencies.

Representatives of all other parties had reached the meeting venue. Since UML representatives didn’t participate in the meeting, the District Election Office, Bajura has postponed the meeting till 7 am on Thursday. The office has also requested UML to attend the meeting on Thursday.

The UML has said that it won’t attend any meeting until people involved in the murder of its cadre Chetan Aidi are arrested. It has also demanded an unconditional release of its party cadres who were arrested during a protest program organized by the party.

The student wing of UML has accused Nepali Congress (NC) cadres of lynching Aidi at his home on Monday evening as disputes heightened between the two parties over the voting process in Natyashwari Basic School Polling Station in Tribeni-7.
