KATHMANDU: The government spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, has claimed that the cabinet would be expanded within two days.
Sharma’s statement comes at a time when coalition partners are struggling to reach a consensus on cabinet expansion. Speaking at an event in Kathmandu, Sharma added that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has become successful in raising hopes among the people that his government will achieve something meaningful.
“The Prime Minister has just passed the floor test. Preparations for the cabinet expansion are underway. I think the government will take complete shape within a day or two,” she added.
Sharma also mentioned that the government would soon pass a bill related to transitional justice.
Dahal was appointed on Prime Minister on December 25 last year with the support of CPN-UML, Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party and other fringe parties. His government fell into the minority after RPP and UML withdrew their support after CPN (Maoist Center) chose to form a new coalition following differences with UML in the run up to the presidential election. He has since formed a new coalition with Nepali Congress and nine other parties.
But Dahal is facing difficulty in expanding the cabinet as there are too many ministerial aspirants.
