Birgjun metropolis lays off 400 daily wage staffers

JANAKPURDHAM: Birgunj Metropolitan City has laid off 400 daily wage workers.

A notice issued by the metropolitan city’s Chief Administration officer Laxmi Poudel states that 400 daily wage staffers working for the metropolitan city and various offices under it have been relieved of their responsibilities with effect from December 16.

Daily wage staffers working for the fire engine department and city police, however, have not been removed, according to the notice.

Nearly 450 staff were hired under the daily wage system by the new leadership of the metropolitan city elected in the local body election held on March 8.
