Bangladesh, India enter final of SAFF U-19 Women’s Championship

KATHMANDU: India advanced to the final of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) U-19 Women’s Championship in Bangladesh with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Nepal in the final match of the league stage. It will meet Bangladesh in the final. The hosts progressed to the final winning its first two games.

Neha scored two goals, while Sulanjana Rahul and Cindy Remruatpuii each scored one to secure India’s win in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on Tuesday. All four goals were scored in the second half.

India took the lead in the 54th minute through Neha’s goal. She doubled the lead in the 80th minute. India extended the lead to 3-0 when Sulanjana scored with five minutes remaining in the regulated 90 minutes. Cindy scored in the injury time to give India a comfortable 4-0 victory.

The last year’s runner-up began its campaign with a resounding 10-0 victory over Bhutan in the first match. It, however, suffered a 1-0 defeat to hosts Bangladesh in the second match.

Bangladesh defeated Nepal 3-1 in its first match and saw off India’s challenge with a 1-0 victory in the second match.
