ANFA Vice President Lama arrested

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested Dawa Lama, the vice president of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), on a drug-related case.

Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office of Nepal Police arrested Lama on Wednesday. Somendra Singh Rathaour, chief of the office, said the police were preparing to present Lama before the court.

Although convicted by the court in a brown sugar smuggling case, Lama had been absconding. While on the run, he contested the election of ANFA and got elected to the position of Vice President.

The court had sentenced Lama to five years of imprisonment. He will now have to serve the remaining four years behind bars.
