KATHMANDU: Ambassador of Nepal to the United States of America, Shreedhar Khatry, has emphasized the crucial role played by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Nepal’s socio-economic development.
Khatri made the remarks during the launch of audio-visual materials promoting tourism in Nepal at Washington DC on Tuesday.
The publicity materials were prepared in the joint initiatives of USAID and the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) to boost tourism in Nepal.
On the occasion, Ambassador Khatry highlighted the abundant natural heritages and cultural diversity of Nepal, and also underlined the positive impact of Nepal’s democratic process and liberal economic policies which have created opportunities for foreign investment, especially in areas such as energy, tourism, agriculture, and information technology.
Also speaking on the occasion, Anjali Kaur, USAID’s deputy assistant administrator for Asia, said that USAID has prioritized agriculture, tourism, and information technology for Nepal’s development.
The promotional materials were developed by the US Television Channel, PBS, according to a statement issued by the Nepali Embassy in Washington.
Former US Ambassador to Nepal, Peter Bord; NRNA Chairperson Dr. Arjun Banjade, and embassy officials, among others, were present on the occasion.
