KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has issued one of the three ordinances recommended by the government.
The Office of the President said in a statement on Friday evening that President Paudel issued the Ordinance to Amend Some Nepal Acts Relating to Disasters, 2026, on Friday.
A Cabinet meeting held on October 7 decided to recommend to the President to issue the ordinance to remove legal obstacles to declaring missing persons dead.
The ordinance reduces the period after which a missing person can be declared dead from 12 years to 45 days.
The cabinet has also recommended that the President issue the Ordinance to Amend Some Nepal Acts Relating to Land and the Ordinance to Amend Some Nepal Acts Relating to Forests.
