Nepse snaps four-day gaining streak, closes 15.43 points lower

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index snapped a four-day winning streak on Wednesday, falling 15.43 points to close at 2,545.40 points.

The index fell into the red as soon as trading began on Wednesday morning and remained in negative territory for the remainder of the session. The Sensitive Index, which measures the performance of blue-chip companies, also fell 0.35%.

Unit prices of 192 scrips declined during the session, while 74 advanced and 11 remained unchanged. Despite Nepse’s decline, total turnover improved to Rs 4.19 billion, with 10.96 million units traded through 50,804 transactions.

Among individual stocks, Upper Lohorekhola Hydropower Company hit the 15% positive circuit. Shuvam Power Ltd and Civil Bank Debenture 2088 were next, with gains of 6.4% and 5.94%, respectively. On the other hand, Emerging Nepal Ltd, Sindhu Bikash Bank and Janaki Finance Ltd all posted losses of 14.99%.

Reliance Spinning Mills Ltd topped the turnover chart with total transactions worth Rs 427.67 million. Central Finance Company Ltd and NRN Infrastructure & Development Ltd followed with turnovers of Rs 171.13 million and Rs 166.73 million, respectively.

The sub-indices of all 13 trading groups ended the session in the red. The Development Bank sub-index posted the biggest loss of 2.37%. The Non-life Insurance and Trading sub-indices were next, with losses of 1.57% and 1.56%, respectively.
