KATHMANDU: The government has decided to prepare a relief and rehabilitation package for individuals and business entities affected by the Bhotekoshi flood.
A cabinet meeting held on Friday instructed the Ministry of Finance to prepare the package targeting individuals and businesses that suffered damage in the flood-affected districts.
The meeting also decided to give approval in principle to the Salt Trading Corporation (STC) to procure 25,000 tons of DAP fertilizer from the Indian government through a government-to-government (G2G) procurement process.
Likewise, the prime minister and all ministers have decided to contribute one month’s salary/remuneration to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support people affected by Wednesday’s flood.
The flood triggered by a rockslide and avalanche has claimed 489 lives as of Friday afternoon and caused losses worth billions of rupees.
