KATHMANDU: At least 95 people have been confirmed dead following a devastating flood that hit the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa on Wednesday morning.
According to Nepal Police, the recovered bodies include 27 women, 37 men, 11 children, and 20 individuals who have not yet been identified.
The body of one man has been recovered in Rasuwa, while 11 bodies—five women and six men—have been retrieved in Nuwakot.
In Dhading, authorities recovered the bodies of 11 women, five men, and two unidentified individuals, bringing the district’s total to 18. Likewise, 16 bodies—one woman, four men, one boy and 10 unidentified individuals—were recovered in Gorkha.
Similarly, in Chitwan, 33 bodies—10 women, 10 men, two girls, three boys and eight unidentified individuals—have been retrieved.
Police added that five bodies—three men, one girl, and one boy—were recovered in Tanahun, while 11 bodies (eight men and three girls) were recovered in Nawalparasi East.
Officials said 63 people injured in the floods have been rescued and are receiving treatment at various hospitals.
Of the injured, 21 are being treated at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, seven at the National Trauma Center, one at Birendra Army Hospital, 21 at Rasuwa Hospital, 16 at Trishuli Hospital, three at Norvic Hospital, and one at Green City Hospital.
According to police, 28 police personnel have gone out of contact. They include 10 from Timure, eight from Rasuwagadhi, three from Syafrubesi, five from Mailung, one from Betrawati and one from Haku.
