KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index snapped a four-day losing run, edging up 7.17 points to close at 2,629.40 points on Thursday.

Although the benchmark index remained in negative territory for the first two hours, it recovered and sustained momentum for the remainder of the session to ultimately close 0.27% higher.

Unit prices of 132 scrips advanced during the session, while 132 declined and 13 remained unchanged. Total turnover improved to Rs 4.4 billion from the previous session, with 47,919 units traded through 9.5 million transactions.

Among individual stocks, Mount Everest Power Development Ltd and Sarvottam Paints Ltd posted the highest gain of 14.99% each. NIC Asia Select Fund and Mandu Hydropower Ltd were next with gains of 6.63% and 4.87%, respectively. Likewise, Kumari Dhanbriddhi Yojana logged the largest loss of 9.77%. Kumari Equity Fund and Khanikhola Hydropower Company were next with losses of 9% and 5.97%, respectively.

Agricultural Bond (9 Year) topped the turnover chart with total transactions of Rs 506.5 million. Next were Reliance Spinning Mill Ltd and Solu Hydropower Ltd with turnovers of Rs 300.47 million and Rs 229.89 million, respectively.

Seven trading groups posted losses on the day, while the remaining six ended the session in the green. The Mutual Fund posted the biggest loss of 0.65%, while the Hydropower sub-index logged the biggest gain of 0.99%.
