Third consecutive loss pulls Nepse to 2,641.06 points

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its losing streak for a third consecutive session on Monday, the first trading day of the week, slipping by 9.04 points to close at 2,641.05.

The benchmark index slipped into the red as soon as trading began and remained under pressure throughout the session. Market sentiment remained weak as declining stocks outnumbered gainers significantly. As many as 180 scrips declined during the session, while 82 advanced and 14 remained unchanged.

Total turnover declined slightly to Rs 3.67 billion with 10.96 million units traded across 53,524 transactions.

Among individual stocks, Corporate Development Bank posted the biggest gain of 8.47%. Daramkhola Hydro Energy Ltd and First Microfinance Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd were next with gains of 6% and 4.61%, respectively. On the other hand, Reliable Samriddhi Yojana-2 logged the largest loss of 9.7%. Aatmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd and Laxmi Unnati Kosh followed with losses of 8.87% and 5.89%, respectively.

Solu Hydropower Ltd topped the turnover chart with total transactions of Rs 463.7 million. Ridi Power Company and First Microfinance Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd followed with turnovers of Rs 292.76 million and Rs 124.54 million, respectively.

Nine sub-indices posted losses during the session, while only four logged gains. The biggest gain of 0.19% came from the Microfinance sub-index. Similarly, the Trading sub-index posted the biggest loss of 0.86%.
