House passes Appropriation Bill

KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives on Thursday passed the Appropriation Bill, 2026 by a majority vote.

The bill was endorsed after Minister for Finance Swarnim Wagle tabled a proposal seeking its approval during the meeting of the lower house.

Before the vote, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal presented clauses 2 through 11 of the Bill for decision.

The House also rejected expenditure-cut motions proposed under various budget headings by lawmakers Kriparam Rana, Parbati BK, Jog Kumar Barbariya Yadav, Santosh Subba, Nita Ghatani, Parshuram Tamang, Arjun Kumar Karki, Narendra Kumar Kerung, Ramesh Kumar Malla, Sajida Khatun Siddiqi, Yubaraj Dulal, Yashuda Kumari Baral, Guru Prasad Baral, Mohammad Istiyaq Rai, Balawati Sharma, Bishnumaya BK, Yagya Bahadur Bogati, Ain Bahadur Mahar, Pushpa Raj Kandel and Padma Kumari Aryal.

Minister Wagle had presented the annual estimates of revenue and expenditure for the fiscal year 2026/27 during a joint session of the Federal Parliament on May 29.

The House discussed the ministry-wise allocations under the Appropriation Bill on June 15 and 16. Ministers to questions related to their respective ministries during the deliberations on Wednesday and Thursday.

The next meeting of the House of Representatives is scheduled for 11 am on Friday.
