ITAHARI: The Koshi Province Government has unveiled a budget of Rs 40.44 billion for the fiscal year 2026/27.
Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Bidur Kumar Lingthep presented the budget in the meeting of the Koshi Provincial Assembly on Monday.
The budget size is 12.74% larger than the current fiscal year’s allocation.
The provincial government has allocated Rs 13 billion for recurrent expenditure, Rs 20.75 billion for capital expenditure, and Rs 150 million for financial management.
To finance the budget, the provincial government expects to raise Rs 5.5 billion from internal revenue and Rs 12.87 billion from revenue sharing. Likewise, it expects to get Rs 9.12 billion under fiscal equalization grants, Rs 5.95 billion in conditional grants, Rs 640 million in complementary grants, and Rs 550 million in special grants from the federal government.
Similarly, it is eyeing Rs 410 million from royalty sharing and Rs 200 million from direct payments.
According to the budget document, the provincial government will also utilize Rs 5 billion cash balance carried over from the current fiscal year in the new fiscal year.
