Harka Sampang
KATHMANDU: Shram Sanskriti Party (SSP) Chairperson Harka Raj Rai, aka Harka Sampang, on Tuesday suggested that Minister for Home Affairs Sudhan Gurung, who has drawn criticism for concealing some securities investments, step down.
“We keep hearing something new about him all the time. It would have been better if that were not the case,” Rai said at a press meet in Kathmandu. “We hear such things two or three times a week—one thing today, something else tomorrow. Therefore, I suggest that he step aside rather than remain in the post amid controversy.”
Gurung has been accused of concealing investments in two micro insurance companies in his property declaration submitted to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. Questions have also been raised over the source of funds for such investments.
The home minister, however, has insisted that he invested in the securities market by securing bank loans.
