KATHMANDU: The National Security Council has resolved to leave no room for lapses in ensuring that the House of Representatives election scheduled for Thursday is conducted in a free, fair, peaceful, and orderly manner.
A meeting of the Council, chaired by Prime Minister Sushila Karki, reviewed the election security arrangements and concluded that all necessary security measures for the polls are in place.
According to Defence Secretary Kedar Nath Sharma, the meeting also decided to mobilize security agencies in a more effective and coordinated manner to maintain law and order and public peace in the country.
The Council discussed various national security challenges, as well as the potential impact of developments at the national, regional, and international levels on national security, and deliberated on future strategies.
Finance Minister Rameshore Prasad Khanal, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, Foreign Minister Balananda Sharma, Labor, Employment and Social Security Minister Rajendra Singh Bhandari, Chief Secretary Suman Raj Aryal, and Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel were present in the meeting.
