POKHARA: Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Kumar Thapa has announced that the party will investigate the assets of both himself and outgoing President Sher Bahadur Deuba if a government is formed under its leadership.
Addressing an election rally in Pokhara, he said that neither his own relatives nor any party leaders would be exempt from scrutiny.
He claimed that an NC-led government would prevent any new scandals and would not allow others to commit them. “Necessary legal and institutional measures will be put in place for this,” he said, adding that the NC is a party that believes in the rule of law and will not act arbitrarily.
He also said that the country should not be turned into a laboratory in the name of giving someone an opportunity. “We no longer have time to learn or teach; responsibilities must be given to those who are capable of working from the very first day in government,” he added.
