KATHMANDU: Police have arrested four individuals involved in the attack on a joint team of Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal and Birgunj Customs Office during a raid at a warehouse in Birgunj on Monday.
Three APF personnel were injured and two APF vehicles were damaged when a group of local traders attacked the team.
According to Parsa Police Spokesperson DSP Hari Bahadur Basnet the four individuals involved in the attack were arrested by Monday night. “Necessary investigations are underway after reviewing CCTV footage of those who attacked the APF team,” he said. “Since the investigation into those involved in the atack is still ongoing, the names of the suspects will be made public later.”
The clash occurred while the joint team was seizing clothing illegally stored in a warehouse at the house of Madan Prasad Gupta in Adarshanagar, on suspicion that the goods had been brought in through customs evasion.
According to APF Nepal, goods worth approximately Rs 1.25 million were seized during the raid.
