Film producers electing new leadership on Monday

KATHMANDU: Nepali film producers are voting to elect a new leadership on Monday.

The 19th General Assembly of the Nepal Film Producers Association will elect a new leadership for a three-year term.

Incumbent Senior Vice President Uday Subba and General Secretary Sunil Thapa are vying for the post of President.

Similarly, Dipendra K Khanal, Raunak Bikram Kadel and Jyoti Raj Rai are running for the post of Vice President. The assembly will elect one Senior Vice President and one Vice President from these three aspirants.

Likewise, Kiran Nepali and Khagendra Prasad Lamichhane are contesting for the position of General Secretary. Nepalis from Thapa’s panel, while Lamihhane is from Subba’s panel.

Yuvaraj Giri and Krishna Prasad Pokharel (Kisan Pokharel) have registered candidacies for the post of Secretary.

Ram Prasad Rijal has been elected unopposed as treasurer.

Similarly, only seven — Chumban Jung Shahi, Tanka Bahadur Budhathoki, Sridhar Paudel, Manoj Kumar Adhikari, Praveen Karki, Ghanendra Thapaliya and Raj Kumar Pandit — have filed candidacies for the post of nine Executive Committee members. This means all seven have been elected unopposed.

A total of 324 film producers are eligible to vote in the election, according to the association.
