KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has invited applications from aspiring candidates for the proportional representation (PR) category in the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5.
The decision was made public following a two-day expanded meeting of the party’s Central Committee held in Sauraha, Chitwan.
Announcing a 10-point resolution adopted at the meeting, the RSP said the call for PR candidacies was made in line with the meeting’s directives.
According to a statement issued after the meeting, the party has introduced additional eligibility criteria for those seeking nomination under the proportional representation system. The new requirements include self-declarations stating that the applicant has not misused any public position; has verified academic credentials; and has a valid and clearly defined marital status. Candidates must also declare that they have not engaged in any form of hate speech, abuse, threats, or discrimination based on caste or gender, nor in the exploitation of vulnerable groups, whether in person or through online platforms.
In addition, each aspirant must submit a self-declaration confirming that they—and their immediate family members—have a stable and transparent source of income sufficient to meet their basic needs throughout their tenure as a member of the House of Representatives.
According to the party, the new standards are aimed at ensuring integrity, accountability, and ethical conduct among its representatives in Parliament.
