KATHMANDU: The government has established a Physical Infrastructure Reconstruction Fund to rebuild public and government structures damaged during the Gen-Z protests on September 8 and 9.
Issuing a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Finance said the cabinet meeting held on Sunday endorsed the Physical Infrastructure Reconstruction Committee (Formation) Order, 2025, that aims to make reconstruction, relief, restoration and economic revival efforts more effective.
The government has called on provincial and local governments, the private sector, non-resident Nepalis, friendly nations, development partners and international organizations to contribute to the fund. “We earnestly appeal to everyone to participate in this great national reconstruction effort and contribute,” it added.
The ministry has clarified that individuals providing financial assistance can deduct their contributions from taxable income for the current fiscal year.
According to Joint Secretary Tanka Prasad Pandey, the spokesperson for the finance ministry, contributions can be deposited into the Physical Infrastructure Reconstruction Fund account at Rastriya Banijya Bank, Singha Durbar Branch (Account No.: 1960100102070004; SWIFT Code: RBBANPKA).
Contributions can also be made via QR code or Fonepay.
The ministry has stated that all funds received in the account will be used exclusively for reconstruction and relief programs.
