Ghising decides to recover pending dues from dedicated, trunk line users

KATHMANDU: Newly-appointed Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Kul Man Ghising has announced that his first decision in office will be to recover outstanding dues from dedicated and trunk line users.

Assuming office at the energy ministry on Monday, Ghising declared that his first step would be to collect pending payments from industrial consumers using dedicated and trunk power lines.

Ghising was earlier dismissed as the Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) due to differences between him and then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and energy minister Deepak Khadka over the recovery of these dues.

The Oli government had appointed Hitendra Dev Shakya as the Executive Director of NEA after removing Ghising.

Earlier, Ghising was sworn in as the Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation; Minister for Urban Development and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport in the interim government led by former Chief Justice Sushila Karki.

Before assuming office after his swearing-in, Ghising visited Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital to meet with the families of those who lost their lives during the Gen Z protest.
