Lumbini decides to ease land use restrictions in capital area

BUTWAL: The Lumbini Province Government has decided to recommend the removal of land use restrictions within the capital area.

A provincial cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to recommend to the federal government the conditional release of privately owned lands under restriction in Rapti Rural Municipality, Gadhwa Rural Municipality and Shitganga Municipality of Arghakhanchi.

The decision was taken based on the demands of the local people and recommendations from the Provincial Infrastructure Development Authority.

According to the decision, land parcels smaller than 1 kattha in all wards of Rapti Rural Municipality, Wards 1, 2, and 3 of Gadhwa Rural Municipality and smaller than one ropani in Wards 8 and 9 of Shitganga Municipality cannot be fragmented. Additionally, buyers of these lands must sign an agreement committing to comply with the conditions set by land integration projects.

The government had placed restrictions on fragmentation and ownership transfers of these lands five years ago, before the provincial capital was declared.
