KATHMANDU: Three individuals involved in forging official documents, including fake academic certificates and land ownership papers, have been arrested by Nepal Police.
According to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, the three individuals, involved in forging documents related to various government offices, municipal bodies, banks and financial institutions and educational institutions, were arrested from Futung in Tarkeśhwar–7 of Kathmandu.
Those arrested include Anjani Bayalkoti from Masel of Gorkha, Nirmal Khadka of Okhaldhunga and Anju Khatri from Makwanpur.
According to SP Kumar Acharya, the spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Bayalkoti had been involved in forging and circulating fake documents related to both government and private institutions for the past eight years. He had rented a room in Futung to operate the forgery racket and employed two assistants, paying them monthly salaries of Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000.
Police investigations show the group prepared fake land ownership certificates to present as collateral to secure bank loans. Police also recovered 355 stamps bearing the seals of various government and non-government offices, organizations, and political parties, as well as forged academic certificates, driving licenses, land ownership documents and marriage registration certificates in large numbers.
