KATHMANDU: A delegation of Korea Railroad (Korail) Corporation, led by its Chairperson and CEO Han Moon Hee, met with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at the latter’s official residence in Baluwatar on Wednesday.
The discussion focused on the development of railways in Nepal.
Korail, Korea’s national railway operator with a 126-year history in railway operations, expressed interest in collaborating on railway construction in Nepal.
Oli described the Korean initiative for collaboration as positive, given ongoing feasibility studies for railway construction and operation in different parts of the country.
Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal and Office of the Investment Board Nepal (OIBN) Sushil Gyawali were also present at the meeting.
Earlier, Korail’s delegation met with officials of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and the OIBN. The two sides have agreed to form a joint working group to study railway construction and collaboration in Nepal.
